7 July 2006 - Last Day AUC Conference

The Conference included tea at Nick's Bar and Grill at the King St Wharf in Darling Harbour. Really nice by the water. The birthplace of western civilization in Australia when the First Fleet came out in 1788. Actually, Henry Kable, one of the convicts who came out from Suffolk, England, on the First Fleet, is my Great-great-great-great-grandfather... makes me 7th generation Aussie. And the food was nice too!

Went back to the motel and had a hot spa bath... nice! Got to bed late though.

It's really noisy having the window open at night. Right through the whole night (midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am, peakhour) there was plenty of traffice, noise, horn beeps etc at the cnr George and Pitt Sts (Railway Square). Got up about 7:45 am, showered, read the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, prayed, dressed, packed, ate a really nice breakfast (again), and checked out of the motel. Quick walked down to UTS for the conference and walked in 5 seconds before the presenter began the workshop!

The workshop's about advanced unix commands covering file storage, backup, processes, text file editing and lots of good low level stuff. Will be good to have the PPT files as references (which will be available).

Conference finishes at 3:30pm today. I'll catch a train to Thornleigh (near Hornsby in northern edge of Sydney) where I'll catch up with Uncle John for a few minutes, then find my way to Shem's girlfriends place. Shem's down in Sydney and fluked being the same time I'm here! It'll be great to catchup with him and Missy.

Church tomorrow. Saturday night is not planned yet. Casual Sunday morning, and meeting up with cousin Ash near Town Hall for lunch Sunday. Then head back to Qld about 4pm via Qantas. Airport flyer back home in Meringandan and good to be home with family again. :-)
