4 July 2006 - Sydney for X World Conference

Worked at USQ til 2pm, caught the Airport Flyer from the Uni to Brisbane Airport. I had a good talk with a man on the trip to the airport. He's a Melburnian, had his first visit to Queensland and noticed Qld was more "hilly" than he was expecting. Qantas brought me to Sydney and I couldn't see much out the plane window... because it was almost all black! The plane was a Boeing 767-338. Air temp got down to -25 degrees celcius outside! No dramas on the flight. Paul was a great guy to talk to on the trip. He does IT in western Sydney and was in Brisbane for work for the day.

Caught the train to Central station from the airport. Melbourne trains are nicer than Sydney's, but still not too bad. Found my way (few hundred meters) to Country Comfort hotel on George St. Checked in, flicked through the channels and saw a bit of news, car racing, documentaries, and came to the conclusion (again!) that there's a lot of rubbish in the medai.

Took a few photos. Now typing this blog. Will take a shower and head to bed. Might try and get a jog (maybe a swim) in before the conference tomorrow at UTS at 9:30 am. Hotel is nice with spa bath, sauna on top of building (13th floor). I'm on 10th floor with not too bad a view.
