6 April 2005 - Kozzy Journal Day 4

Today, we got up about 7am, had breakfast, worship, and went with the Gilroy's in the back of the "new" (?) Land Cruiser up the hill, and it was such a nice view over the valley. The 4WD had a minor problem (making it immovable), but some work by Ian improved the movability of the vehicle.

The family and Jared and I then sped off Through Tumut to "Tumut 3" power station, hear Talbingo (after dropping my car off to Beaurepairs in Tumut to get a new tyre on). We had lunch and had a guided tour of the hydroelectric power station. Is it huge! 30m diameter turbines, creating enough power to power Canberra! 4m diameter pipes to power the turbines, carrying 188 cubic meters per second! That was pretty awesome to see. The large lakes (which provide the water) are really nice and blue, not to mention how blue the sky was (wow!). Really lovely country along the Snowy Mountain Highway.

We then went to Yarrangabilly Caves, which was really good. Check out the photo's. It's a laaarge cave. Haven't seen anything like it before. We didn't get to go to the thermal pools there (apparently very nice), but headed back to Tumut, then down the Goobarragandra road to the Gilroy's. Tyre all fixed (so that's good). We had a nice tea (taco's, yum) and watched a few fireworks go off! That was a little exciting time, and good fun :-)

It's now time for bed. It's been fairly full-on since we left, but a heap of fun. Tomorrow we leave for Mt Kozzy (yaaaay!), and then to camp in the southern part of Kozzy National park. I can't wait to reach that summit!
